Aircraft Operation Overview

A simple introduction to the many types of aircraft operation, using a video composed of short clips to trigger interest and provoke discussion.  A list of useful websites is provided as background to each of the types of operation identified.  Possibly a lead-in to discussion on the ethical and environmental cost of using aircraft.

Aircraft Navigation

A two-hour exercise, planning a flight from Prestwick to Perth using a simplified set of tools and techniques similar to those taught to trainee private pilots.  A full set of resources are provided as well as instructions for running the exercise.

Aircraft Navigation - Navex Box

The above exercise, but using the same hardware as trainee pilots. This option also avoids the hastle of producing quite complex paper resources, although the simple PLOG (Pilot's Log) form - one per participant, download using the link - is still required.  To arrange a loan of the Navex Box (within South Ayshire) contact Digital Learning at South Ayrshire Council.

Jointly developed with the Light Aircraft Association. Users outside of South Ayrshire should contact their local External link opens in new tab or windowLAA Strut for details.
