The Prestwick branch of the RAeS opened in 1962 ninety seven years after the main society opened in 1865.
We meet monthly during the Winter months from September to April inclusive, in the Aviator Suite on the first floor of Prestwick Airport.
During the summer we occasionally arrange visits to many and various places which are normally aeronautically linked however other places are also visited .
Our meetings normally start at 19.30 and finish around 21.30. / 22.00.
The meeting consists of a lecture normally on an aeronautical type subject given by various specialist speakers. The lecture normally lasts around an hour when we break for coffee and muffins which gives us a chance to chat to other members or visit our extensive library before we resume for question time with the lecturer .
Entry to the lectures is by membership or as a visitor. For full details please refer to Memberships.
Our committee also meets on a monthly basis throughout the year and we try to deal not only with the running of the club but also with any suggestions put forward by our members. We also arrange days out (for details see Visits).
On Lecture nights we have an extensive library from which members can borrow books and/or videos. Full details on Library page.
